Ways of Giving

Donor Thanks

We are grateful to the many Orono residents and businesses that have donated to this campaign!

On February 12, 2007, the Orono Town Council voted to commit $600,000 to support construction of the new library. This contribution brings our campaign total to approximately $1.5 million, within $300,000 of our $1.8 million project goal.

A Challenge

Two anonymous donors have committed up to $50,000 if can raise $150,000 by September 1st, 2007. Help us meet this challenge!

A fift from the University Credit Union

George Jacobson, Campaign Committee member, accepts a $15,000 donation from Matt Walsh, President and CEO of the University Credit Union.

Many Orono residents have pledged and contributed to the Campaign for a New Public Library. Area Businesses have stepped forward as well, including the Merrill Merchants Bank, the University Credit Union, Bangor Savings Bank, Bangor Daily News, John T. Cyr and Sons, Inc., Bangor Historic Track, Inc., Atlantic Communications, CES, Inc., and PPL Maine, LLC. We have also received a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club, and grants from several foundations, including the Davis Family Foundation, the Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust, the Max Kagan Family Foundation, and the Lois Gauthier Charitable Trust.

Members of the Friends of the Orono Public Library have been working for many years to raise funds for the Orono Public Library and are enthusiastic supporters of this campaign. Area businesses, including Margarita’s Restaurant, have sponsored events to raise additional funds. The Orono Bicentennial Committee has donated a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their cookbook, Orono Cooks.

We are grateful to our many donors for bringing us within reach of our goal!

A list of donors who have contributed $1,000 or more is coming soon.
